Ba ba chak!

I'm playing hide and seek nowadays. It's not that i dont have the time to update stuff..it's just that I need to find a way to post stuff via my iPhone. You know, it becomes a hassle to update via my laptop and then save the pictures, resize, yadda yadda yadda... Lazy is the word for sure.

Nevertheless, what's been going on in the past few months? Well, I still have not signed up for my swimming class. I should, but I need to buy a suitable swimming suit first, something that does not poke people's eyes out.  The ultimate change is getting this new job. Started at the new place on 1 November.

Okayla, I think it fairs 100 times better that the old place. One, I don't spend big bucks on breakfast. They have a vending machine that sells nestle drink, hot/cold, nescafe, milo you name it. So I normally spend just RM3 per day for brekkie. One cup of nescafe less sugar and a popia or two, maybe sometimes a papaya. Cool eh? Compared to my RM6-10 a day at the old place. The cafe also have nasi lemak, roti canai, teh tarik and stuff but nowadays I try not to eat those things. Jaga perutla konon..konon! Lol.

And guess what, I've started going to the gym. It's free some more :) Rasa macam boleh pengsan jatuh tergolek! phew! Have not been able to make it a daily thing. I should, I know. But not selang 2 hari kira okayla. :)You have to start somewhere right?
I salute those people who can run a full marathon. 42km right? 2.5km pun rasa macam nak tercabut kaki, rasa macam boleh faint there and then. Thee hee hee! Drama, I know!

Okay, done my gibberish-ing for today. Till then, toodles!

Yummy Paprika Prawn Salad

Yes, I had salad for dinner. Hehe.. Once in a while my tummy has to take that much needed break from munching heavy stuff :)

Saw a recipe from somewhere and decided to make this grilled paprika praws. It's supposed to be grilled but I just cooked them in a non stick pan. Easy peasy.

The recipe calls for :
cayenne pepper (which I didn't have)
paprika
garlic (diced)
 salt to taste and
a bit of olive oil.
I added diced capsicum just to have that sweet taste in..I love capsicums..hehe..

Clean the prawns and marinate them for let's say a good half an hour. While you clean up the kitchen, keep the prawns in the fridge.

Prepare the salad ( tomatoes, capsicums, roasted almond flakes if you have any, carrots and whatever you like to throw in).  Grill the prawns, once done, arrange them onto the plate of salad. And voila! Dinner is served!

In my opinion, the prawns were yum-my! Hubs thought so too. Hehe. :)

Paprika prawn salad..salivating just by looking at it.

H&M Setia City Mall

At last, H&M opens at Setia City Mall (SCM). I know there is one more in KL but that is too far from home. H&M reminds me of my tenure in Hong Kong. I went to H&M nearly every weekend and there would always be so many people there. I remember once there was a collaboration with Jimmy Choo or something and people lined up at H&M HK like nobody's business. it was madness!

I feel... happy being in H&M and trying them clothes..over kan? Trying clothes here is therapeutic. The clothes are not that cheap but they are not too expensive either. In total I have purchased 4 pieces within 2 weeks. 2 dresses and 2 jackets. Purchased the 4th piece today at RM149, a bit expensive but I can use this with many of my other dresses. Mix and match is key! But be warned, you may bump into a person that wears the same dress, or top or skirt (that happened to me many times in HK..hehe..but I didn't mind it so much).

So if you guys happen to be at SCM, drop by H&M and have a whale of a time putting on their many many variety of clothes. They have casual wears as well.. leggings, jeggings (ok, I have not seen any jeggings but i think they might have them around, somewhere).

I am growing to love SCM even more every single day.

The jacket at RM149 per piece

The Zebra sleeveless dress at RMcannot remember and the jacket with polkadotties on the inside around RM100plus. Love love!

McCafe Malaysia...a cheaper and yummier alternative to Star*****, Coffee **** and the likes

Ahhh...finally McD opens up McCafe in Malaysia. I think they are still in the testing the market stage because the cafe is available at selected stores. The place that I always frequent is the one in McD Kota Damansara.

McCafe reminds me of my stay in Hong Kong. Every morning before going to the office, I would buy a cup of coffee normally a latte. It's more expensive in Hong Kong though, here, a large latte only cost me RM6.xx (can't remember how many cents).

The only difference here is that they don't sell sandwiches like in HK. Here, they only have a small selection of cakes and muffins. I guess that's okay for a start. I still love it though. Tastewise, well for me it beats Starb****' coffee any day. Sebab si Sbux tu is a bit too thin for me and no, I don't ask for extra shots.

Feel like having a large cup of McCafe's latte as I'm writing this. Oh yum.

Swiss Garden Damai Laut Review

Hello Hello!
Again we went on an impulse getaway. But this time around the impulse was no good. We didn't quite like the place.
Actually, I've been wanting to see this place for quite some time..like since 2,3 years back.  So finally we managed to book a place for 1 night only. Thank goodness for that. (man! I should have just booked a room at Sepang Goldcoast as the room was on offer at RM400 ++ per night..lagi worth it..boo!)

Anyway..haihhh..the journey to this place took forever. Started the journey at 10.15am and only stopped at Tapah for a quick lunch. Only reached the hotel at 3pm! Phew! And of course with the help of our trusted GPS.

In a nutshell, all I can say is. There is nothing there! Nothing. The food places are too far from the hotel and if you go out for dinner, you have to be willing to drive back in the dark (didn't see any street lamps along the way  to the hotel..only trees :p )

Price
For the money we paid, certainly it was not value for money. RM270 per night with breakfast. We also had the buffet dinner at RM55 per head so that was another RM110 burnt. Bummer.
Oh and don't forget about the petrol and toll. In total I think we paid about RM120 for petrol ( a comfortable level as we refuelled as we reached the hotel) and approximately RM44 for toll.

SOOOO in total we spent about RM550 for the trip. Argh, what a waste! Should have just gone to Genting Highlands or Melaka. Well, at least I know now that we will not be going back to this place.

Food
If you're a hungry person like me..make sure you tapau or buy some food before getting to this place. If not you have to wait for dinner time to eat. You can always eat at one of their restos or order room service (room service menu is very limited), but I regretted not buying McD when we passed by the UTP area.
Tastewise - buffet dinner was okay. Spread was limited but the pepper prawns were yummy. I can say the food was okaylah.

Service
Normal. Nothing to shout about. Quiet fast maybe because there was not many people. And now wer know why there were not many people..right.

Cleanliness
Room looked new, so it was quite clean except for the bedsheet. I shall reserve my comments on that. Erk!
Bathroom - the tub was...it was in need of some cleaning. But the toilet was clean so that was ok.

Activities
They have many activities but I don't see many people participating in any of it. There was an ATV service as well, but I came down with fever and flu so we had to forego that. Was not in the mood.

I think if there were other interesting things at this place and the food places were easily accessible maybe we could have enjoyed our stay.  Then again, to each his own.  Maybe for some it would be an enjoyable stay.  Maybe.

Grand Lexis Port Dickson fka The Legend International Water Homes

Last weekend we went for a short getaway at Grand Lexis PD. 2 days and 1 night. Very short. Hehe. I didn't take many pictures maybe because I just didn't feel like it.

We paid about RM770 for the stay, with breakfast for 2. Our room was called Garden Pool Villa. Basically it's like a one-storey house with a swimming pool and it's not located near the beach. I still love the place though, love the privacy and the roominess of the room.

Price
Expensive la i think..for 2 days 1 night right? Nevertheless we booked this place because hubs can claim from the company, part of the benefit for the employees. Yeay!

Food
We didn't order room service while we were there so I cannot comment so much. We only had the buffet breakfast which was ok. Not bad for our liking. Good spread and all.
We went out to buy goreng pisang at this makcik - super duper yummy!!! but I only bought RM3 worth of goreng pisang..boleh? Haih...
For dinner we initially wanted to eat at Seri Mesra Ikan Bakar which is our fave spot tapi ramainya manusia. Ended up eating ketam at Nasreen Songkhla Seafood. Hmm..next time.
On another note - don't eat at Bangi Kopitiam which is located near the Petronas (and next to satay kajang hj samuri). Seriously tak sedap langsung. Wasted RM30 on the place, and the lalats..u were fighting to get the food in your mouth without having the fly go in as well.

Service
The checking in and out was quite fast. Is it because it's not the school holidays? Maybe. But all in all they were quite good and the buggy driver was very friendly.

The Pool
Well, if you want a bigger pool, I think you can book the premium rooms that they have, but of course it comes with a higher price. Ours was small but still ok. I mean hey, I get to be in the pool for hours and no one could see me. Love the privacy.

Cleanliness
Very clean. The bathroom, the room, the sheets, towels are all satisfactory.

Parking
They have ample parking at the main tower but we parked near our 'house' because we had many plastic bags of food to carry..hehe..

Activities
I think they have a lot of games for the guests (saw the segway thingy which hubs wanted to try tapi tak sempat), but hey, we had the pool, why would I wanna spend time outside no? Lol.

I would recommend this place just for a short getaway from the city and work. Kat luar PD tu memang nothing much to see la..it's a great lepak place with your partner and/or your family :)

The pool. That guy does not come with the package..hehe :)

Got microwave ok. And a minibar, stock of tea & coffee sachets. Yes, two king-sized beds just for the two of us.

The shower with the toilet next to it.

Tadaa! This is what you see when you brush your teeth...nice eh?

Longchamp Victoire line - RED is My new LOVE

Trying to save enough money to have my new love. (that's why in my previous post I said I rarely say no when he wants to buy gadgets..it's because I have a weakness too!)

This is under the Victoire line.  Sis in law offered to find one for me (hence I have to make sure I have the $ and can get her help to buy it for me overseas)..when I showed her the picture, she liked it too. Well red is her favourite colour anyway. So yeah, save save save.. must get my hands on this baby soon!

Prefer the long handle..but too lazy to google for the right pic.
Till then, toodles.

The Ipad 2 - time for it to find a new home :)

Well, I have never been a real gadgety person. But whenever he wants to get the latest gadgets/techy stuff..as a supportive spouse (as long as he has the ka-ching for it) then I won't disagree.  Tapi deep down, I knew this relationship of his with the ipad won't last... kekeke.. takat nak surf FB, surf websites, smartphone dah cukup.

But I knew his love for the Ipad won't last long.  It's more of an accessory, something that he wanted at that point of time and not something he needed to have.  After a while, he grew bored ( I think) of the ipad.. download applications banyak-banyak pun boring jugak.  We already have our own laptops so yeah, I don't see a need to have the ipad.  Plus he has S2 so if he wants to surf on the go, I think that it is sufficient enough.

So, we're trying to find a new home for this baby.  It's 64gb, never jailbroken, with wifi and 3G.
Hope it will get its way to a person who needs it more than we do. :)

Ipad cover, the ipad 2 box and the ipad 2. A wholesome package :)

Travel light - Bvlgari Omnia miniature perfumes

In the current job, I need to travel in and out of KL nearly every week and I decided that I have to find a way to travel light.

What I will always bring:

  • Toiletries
  • Change of clothes
  • Office clothes
  • Hair dryer (because sometimes you don't know if the hotel has functioning hair dryers)
  • Shoes
  • Slippers
  • Jeans

One way of reducing the weight of the luggage is by bringing mini perfumes (which I now also place in my handbag in case I need to smell nice after a long day in the office).  Bought this at one of KLIA shops. They come in 4 colours = 4 different smells. Bought Omnia once before and I really liked it. So now I have all 4 for RM152. Btw, gave the green one to my sister so I'm left with only 3 bottles now.

Good way to travel light and smell nice all day. Hehe...

Yummy smell from Bvlgari :)

When My Hong Kong Friend Comes for a Visit

My good old buddy Helen had some work in KL and she had been trying to meet up with me for a long time but our schedule would often clash. Helen used to be in the same department at our I** Regional Office in HK..that's where actually I got to meet her. I initially thought she was fierce..hehe.. but she's cool and funny! She was here during the 1.5 weeks towards the end of Ramadan and I just could not find the right time to see her.

In the end, I managed to squeeze in some time and picked her up from Shangri La right after buka puasa and brought her to Jalan TAR to eat the Nasi Briyani at Insaf. Mind you, this was even the first for me, visiting Jalan TAR days before the Raya celebrations. So many people I tell you! I felt like a tourist myself..always hanging on to my bag and watching over Helen.

We had our yummy dinner and then moved on to see some Baju Raya clothes and to show her around. Really felt like a tour guide as I explained to her a lot of things about Malaysia and especially about Hari Raya.. unfortunately there was nothing that I liked there, so I went home empty handed. Nevertheless, I bought for Helen a very nice scarf at RM7.. so cheap right? Btw, I really salute those who brought kids to do Raya shopping at Jalan TAR.. phew! penat I tell ya. Tak boleh nafas terlampau ramai orang..

Pro Eyes Studio Subang Parade

It was not a planned purchase, more of an impulse buy. Nonetheless, he needed a pair of shades so I guess it's okay to get him one since he needs it for driving especially when the sun is out doing its work :).

It's a first time for us, buying from Pro Eyes Studio.  The lady/sales person here was nice to us, quite friendly. That's a plus point :) Most of the optical shops here, they offer more or less the same discount percentages. And most of them carry the same brands.  We did not browse around at other optical shops to compare prices.  I guess 50% discount is still good.

The first one, is a Prada. Hmm..it looked nice on him but I didn't like the white rim (don't know what those things are called) and at the same time it's a tiny bit expensive. About RM1400 before discount...for me, sunnies don't need to be expensive, as long as it looks good on the person :) Well, okay, maybe for ladies tu mahal sikit takpe kot kalau cantik. For men, straightforward je, kalau ok, price ok - beli.

In the end, bought him a pair of from Ray Ban. Cheaper than Prada... Hehehe.. He's happy, my purse? Not so :p

Prada...err, maybe not!

This? Okay. Posing lebih pulak ni... Lol :)

Eid Mubarak, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitiri!

It's already the 5th day of Raya, but it's still not too late to wish Selamat Hari Raya Maaf Zahir Batin!

Going Green
The Radiah + Idris clan from Kg Parit Kuala Pilah tapi tak cukup korum. This was taken at Makcik's place at Juasseh :)

True Blue baby I Love You!

Dad in Law and Samsung Ace PLUS

It's kind of cute when FIL commented that he too wanted to change his phone. No more the old school phone a la Nokia. It's time for a smartphone now.

On the 4th day of Raya, we went to Setia City Mall (as usual, this is our favourite haunt now) and went into DiGi, Maxis and Samsung to compare packages and prices. In the end, we bought the phone at Samsung and change from hotlink prepaid to maxis postpaid - package for RM48 for 200 mins of calls (if I'm not mistaken) and RM28 for 200MB of internet usage.

Now hubs needs to teach him how to use the phone..only managed to teach him like quarter of the way. Still some more techy stuff to share with him.  Oh by the by, FIL bought Samsung Ace PLUS, which is still new in the market that they have not created a cover yet for the phone. hehe..

So now Ayah, marilah berwhatsapp ok! :)

Nice eh? we made him choose the white one because it looks sexier :)

Lights...Camera...Action!!!

This year our raya preparation is..hmm..mediocre. Not to complain or anything it's just that perhaps because so many things has happened to the people in our family this recent months, tak feel nak beriye-iye.

My grandma passed away, eventhough we were not that close but still...
Hubs was hospitalised and had a surgery to remove something...
Sis was hospitalised...
and just recently, my lovable mak long passed on.  I love my mak long because she was so sweet eventhough she can be fierce at times..but still, she loved us all and thought of us as her own children.  She even manjakan hubs ( yeah, menantu also she manjakan..tsk tsk..). But that is why we love her.  She was a very loving person.

Anyhow..ok I don't know how this entry is even linked to my title..I'm digressing, forgive moi! hehe..
I actually wanted to post a few pics of hubs accompanying me to do some shopping a few weeks back.  He is truly a good shopping partner in addition to my kakak... memang can kaw tim with him.  But I think I'm not that good of a shopping partner for him because he likes to go into all those gadgety stores and I don't (because I think they are bo-ring!)... when this happens we would normally split ways and meet up again.

Hmm..wonder if this woman has finished her weekly obligation at the mall today? Lepas raya ni kena ajak dia buat activity lain..panjat bukit ke, running ke, gardening ke..

What's with this paparazzi mode? Penat jalan ni ok..dahla puasa :p
Oh, ok, ok.. one for the camera then :)
Till then, toodles!

My Hari Raya budget...

Okay, I have to admit ( no matter how much I hate to) that I may have burst or go beyond my budget in preparation for the Raya celebrations.  You see, I have it all nicely done up. Should not be a cent more. But alas, the lust (amboi lust!) of buying stuff got the best of me.

So here is how I did my budget.  This is not inclusive of my monthly expenses to go to work and whatnot.
Baju raya (2 pairs) – RM350. 1 pair for RM100 while the other, I got it at RM250
Kuih raya – RM120
Kasut raya – none this year. Just wear whatever new shoes that I’ve bought for work
Duit raya for mum & aunties – RM360
Duit raya for nieces & nephews – RM120. I don’t have to budget that much for this year since I still have a lot of balance from last year :)
Duit raya for kids (other not so close relatives) – RM100
Duit balik kampong  – RM200. I always make sure I have some money when balik kampong, you never know when you might need it..you know, for a roti canai or two J

Duit minyak – RM100

Duit toll – RM30
Unexpected expenses:

Sunnies/shades for hubs – RM410.  This is after 50% discount at an outlet in Subang Parade. I call it unexpected because I didn’t  budget for it. It’s okay, I shall consider this as his future birthday present. Bile time I offer nak belikan, tak nak.  :p                Grrrr!

So in total my raya budget is ……RM1380 + RM410 = RM1790.

When you don’t list it down, you will not realize how much you have or will spend for Raya. So it’s good to do this..at least I know where I am at and whether or not I should be spending any more than what I have (or have not..sebab terbabas jugak ni) budgeted for this year. Moderation is best.
Till then, toodles. Happy budgeting everyone!

Beddinge 3-seater sofabed from Ikea

Finally, I've saved some moolahs to buy the sofabed from Ikea. Why a sofabed? This is so that my sisters/family can sleep on it when they come here for a night or two.  We only have 1 guestroom with a queen sized bed and I don't think that it is sufficient especially when more than 2 guests are around. Some more I felt like I wanted to change my current sofa hence the sofabed is the best choice.

Probably I'll buy a nicer sofa for the living room once I have the ka-ching and I can bring the sofabed upstairs :).

The total cost inclusive of the frame, sofabed cover and the bed is RM799.  You have to collect the 3 items yourself from the aisle stated on the tag.  We paid them to install the frame, it's 5% of the total frame cost - only RM12.

What will happen to our existing sofa? Well, I'm gonna send the 3-seater for recycling while I keep the one seater and lounge seat for now. :)

The bedframe..the before look :)
Tadaa! The after look..and no, Ikea does not give a husband as part of the package. :p

The cost price of the sofabed. In total we paid  RM799+RM12 (installation cost)+RM65 (delivery cost)

Till then, toodles!

It's not congrates..it's CONGRATS! CONGRATS!

I keep seeing the 'congrates' word ever so often on FB and it just annoys me. What's congrates? Can somebody tell me where this alien word comes from?  Yes, little things that can drive me up the wall.  Congrats - the short form for Congratulations. Simple as that.  It is not Congrates, Congrat, Congratulation and shall never will be.

Same goes with defination. It's definition. In malay pun ada yang dah sebut definasi..err, setau i masa belajar tak wujud perkataan ni, unless it's recently created and I didn't know about it.
Why o why do I get agitated with small issues such as this? Okay, maybe because I want to stop this 'fever' from spreading to my future anak cucu cicit. Oh, the agony.

So let's all work together, hand in hand and put a stop to all this nonsense.

Till then, toodles.

Random thought on a Wednesday morning

Just a random thought that came to mind recently. One big issue I see with onlilne shopping is……. You don’t burn any fat. It’s because you look at something you like from the comforts of your bed/couch/chair/toilet seat/bathtub etc, click m2u and done!
With real shopping you actually physically go from one store to another  looking for that one (or two) thing(s) that you need (read: want!).  In this case you really do burn some fat (although we recover the lost fat by eating lunch.. and maaaaaaybe some dessert..mwahahaa).

Aih, I normally plan where I need to go..mindless shopping trips would definitely kill me..or my other half J . Plan, plan, plan..budget, budget, budget. Tapi ade je sometimes terbabas from the planned budget. It's hard to overcome the need to have something new right?

By the way, made my first ever purchase with Princess Stylo Victoria (such a mouthful) and got this Coach bag for RM5XX, can’t recall the exact price. So okay, it’s a trusted seller. Kalau tak, confirm duit lesap bag pun tak dapat.  But i did my research first before ordering so okayla kot :) Kind of used this bag nearly every single day now..macam boleh koyak je because I put so many things inside! Sometimes I event put an umbrella in my bag… :p Mesti nak kena utilise fully :)

Just a short  note for today.
That reminds me, I've paid our Indah Water bill, have you? hehe..

Till then, toodles!

It does not look that sexy now that I've used it ever so often.

Scarves from Opsie Daisy :)

I befriended Opsie Daisy (an online seller of clothes and scarves and other things i think) on Facebook and on certain occasions I would buy stuff from her. I bought one fancy schmancy kaftan (which I don't know when I will be wearing it) and then recently I bought 2 scarves from her.

I saw her posting the scarves on FB and sort of liked them. I spent about RM78 for both scarves. Maybe I could have gotten it cheaper outside but it's more convenient to buy it online. And yes, try to do your homework before buying things online. I asked around about Opsie Daisy where I've a friend who had bought stuff from her before.

Boy o boy. It's so easy to get hooked on online shopping. It's a good thing because it's convenient. The cons would be of that we can't see what it really looks like until after we've bought it and that, duit senang sangat keluar sebab asal nampak cantik menarik nak beli. Must always make it a point to check our bank balances and see if we have sufficient funds for shopping. Pay our monthly commitments/ debts first baru boleh shop dengan senang hati. Yeah!

Till then, toodles!

Scarf numero uno. Chubby wubby face I have. :p. I like this one sebab dia tak lembut sangat and easy to shape.

Scarf no 2. A bit too lembut for me..soft cotton.  had to struggle to find a way to wear it.

Pacific Coffee Company - Setia City Mall

Finally Pacific Coffee Company (PCC) is located somewhat nearby our house. The other store i know is located in Pavilion KL which is like far, far away from our crib. And we are not the type of people who would venture into KL during the weekends.

During our second visit to Setia City Mall, this time bringing my big sis (she got excited when I told her about this new mall), we decided to have coffee at PCC.  And of course ordering the Mochacino was a must and also a slice of mango cheese cake dessert. The mochacino is a bit different from the ones we had in Hong Kong, nevertheless, asalkan ada and dapat satisfy our cravings for the drink.

The mango cheesecake was yummy. It's light and not too creamy/cheesy. Some people like the creamy cheesy ones (like my hubs who loves the Chicago Cheesecake from Coffee Bean), so maybe they won't like this cake. For me and my sis, we like it!

I am planning on my next visit to Setia City Mall...but then again it's gonna be the fasting month in a few days' time..maybe I should cool it down. Am not the type who can walk/shop for hours while fasting. I'll probably faint. Lol.

Till then, toodles!

Mochacino and mango cheesecake. Yum!

Just something that caught our eyes at the cashier...tee hee hee :)

San Francisco Coffee KLCC

Coffee, coffee and more coffee! My favourite coffee joint near our office now is San Francisco Coffee at KLCC. It's located on the 1st floor, near the escalator that is located near the exit to the LRT.

They serve a variety of breakfast sets, from pancakes (which are superhuge! Didnt finish mine when I ordered them the last time), to breakfast burritos, to american breakfast, coddled eggs with toasts and lots more. The cheapest set would be the breakfast burrito (RM9.95) and second cheapest is the coddled eggs set (RM10.50++). All the breakfast sets come with coffee or tea (but I don't know why I have never checked whether they are refillable or not).

San Fran also serves food for lunch - from spaghetti based menu to sandwiches. The sandwiches are quite good - love them.  The latte is quite good too. Well, I don't go to this place that often because it will surely put a dent to my purse, once in a while tu okaylah. Especially when the salary's just in. Heh! :)

Oh, one good thing about it, especially for an early bird like me, it's opened for business as early as 6.30am everyday (not sure about the weekends though).

So if you want good coffee and a wholesome breakfast, give this place a try! And no, I am not paid to do a promo for them.

They have a good motto - Saving Good People from Bad Coffee. Hehe.

Seriously, I don't know what is up with the file that I cannot rotate the pic. well, it's as good as it gets. Coddled eggs set comes with toast, butter and jam. Cute right?

Austin Chase Plaza Shah Alam

There's a new coffee place in town and we went there to see if the coffee (and food) is any good. It's located at the same level as Nyonya Kitchen - not too sure what floor that is. I initially thought it's like Starbucks and Coffee Bean but they actually serve a variety of food from appetisers to main courses.

I ordered lamb shank something and hubs had grilled salmon with mash potatoes and veggies. The lamb shank was good only i think I should order it when I have someone else to share it with. Since hubs is staying away from meat stuff, I had to finish the lamb shank myself.

I ordered latte i think..it came in a small cup. Not value for money at RM11 ( I think) per cup. Mahal sangat pricingnya... in total for food and drinks, it cost us RM85. A bit expensive..maybe I won't go there for lunch or dinner anymore. They serve breakfast sets as well (not as expensive as their a la carte menu), which comes with a free refill up to 11am. They open at 8am every day if I am not mistaken. Perhaps I'll give the breakfast set a try someday.

the lamb shank. Yummy looking no? That big mug - not my latte, it's just plain water.

Setia City Mall review

I have gone Missing in Action (M.I.A) for a few months now and my first entry is about a new shopping mall? Maybe because I just like the new mall so much that I have to write something about it.

This mall has nearly anything and everything under the sun. Love it. We reached the mall around 10.30am and most of the stores are already opened and ready for business. Yes, we were really early because a bit kiasulah..and also because we thought it was far from home. We took the NKVE towards Klang, took the Setia Alam exit and if I am not mistaken, we went up the first flyover (to turn right) after Setia Alam toll to get to the mall.

Parking wise - i think ample space. But I just don't know why people still want to park outside. Bayar sikit la for keselesaan masing-masing and also to not inconvenienced other people who want to park inside. Weekend rate is RM3 for the first 3 hours and RM1 for every hour after that. Can't recall the weekday rates.

We went to the GSC cinema.. love it. Probably because it's new. :) Oh yes, what about facilities? LOVE the restrooms! They have many cubicles in every restroom and they have it at every floor. So even when there are many people, you can always go to the upper floor to have a more comfy time in the loo. Lol :)

F&B? So many so many so many choices! Nando's, Mcd, Delicious (yummm), Pho Hoa, Starbucks, Pacific Coffee Company, Auntie Anne's, Sweet Chat, Fullhouse, Carl's Jr, Teh tarik Place, Papa John's, Tony Roma's and many more.

Shopping? You name it, they have got it. Love the Parkson store here because they have a lot of choices (yes handbags and shoes!!!). Zara, Crabtree and Evelyn, Bobbi Brown, MAC, Niichi, Mango, a whole line of shops for baby/children's clothes..I can't list everything in here but I think you get my point.

Setia City Mall's website also has an app - if you download it, it's easy to find the store that you want to go to. They provide the directory in the app. So easy peasy.

If you want to know more, go to http://www.setiacitymall.com/ Have a funtastic time at the mall y'all! this will be my second favourite to Subang Parade :)

Wan Two Three is engaged!

Well we like to tease her and call her Wan Two Three.  The future husband's family asked for her hand in marriage just over the weekend. For the Malays, you have to go through at least 2 ceremonies before you can be wed. One is the merisik ceremony, simply put, the guy's family asking whether the girl is available and whether they can proceed with the engagement ceremony which will be done later. This is my very layman understanding, there's actually a lot of do's and dont's of the ceremonies, too long to write and too lazy to research for more info.

Then, there's the engagement ceremony. Eventhough nowadays young couples already come into an agreement whether or not they want to get married, the engagement cannot be formalised by only kneeling on one knee and proposing..like how we see in those TV series/movies.

During the engagement ceremony, the guy's family will come to discuss with the girl's family to formalise the engagement and set a date to be married. Normally both families do not speak but are represented by another person close to the family to do all the talking. Well, the points have already been discussed earlier on so the representative already knows what to say when speaking for the family they are representing. If there are any discrepancies, the representative can always refer back to the parents he is representing to get their okay.

Basically that's a very layman and short description on the Malay engagement ceremony. I might have missed out a lot of points :)

All dressed up in Pink :)

The guy's family and rep discussing with our family and rep.
Both families looking on
And now after an agreement has been finalised (i.e.: dowry amount, date of  solemnisation, what happens if the engagement is called off and etc), the mother of the future husband puts on the engagement ring on her ring finger. And no, the man cannot be the one doing it because he is not allowed to do so.

And the Lions Unite!

Last 2 weeks my old boss from the orangy lion company texted to invite me over to her house. She decided to do a makan-makan with the Corporate Communications team and although I have long left the team, I was roped in as well. Ah, so terharu.

Her house is located in Subang Jaya..and I guess both she and her husband have good taste. Really love what she did with the house. She does not have carpets (I try not to place too many carpets in my home as well to ease the cleaning process)..and she has this unique floor at her dry kitchen and also a unique sink in the restroom.  She used her old sewing machine, jenama Singer tu, and made it as the kaki or the base to hold the sink. Very very nice! yes and silly me I didnt take any pictures..a bit shy to simply take pictures of her home.

Indeed it was a homey home..loved it. Well, more about the get together..both she and her husband cooked for dinner..there was mutton, chicken tandoori, veggies and other stuff. There was also oreo cheesecake brought by one of the teammates and bubur kacang made by KC.

the food was good but what made it a blast was having all of them there, talking and chatting away. Oh how I miss my old team very much. :( But I guess, life goes on..I am not part of the team anymore but I will always be apart of their lives as they are mine, I hope, for years to come. Cheers to good friends and good company!

When you're sick and McD does not deliver...

Boy o boy this is what happens when I am sick and hungry...
...to the housing area that you in. Boleh jadi Incredible Hulk no? Stress..dahla tak sihat and in my situation (am sick due to a packet of nasi lemak I had the day before) memangla tak boleh nak drive out to buy stuff/food. Telephone McD, they said 'Maaf kami tak buat penghantaran ke Denai Alam' What? Ooh oho ohohooo..boy was I frustrated nak makan bubur McD tak dapat. Boo hoo.

So any McD people here..if you happen to come across this entry (which i think nobody from McD will in a gazillion years), please please open a branch in Denai Alam/Bukit Subang area. By the by, meyimpang sikit.. area Bukit Subang tu dah lama wujud but still no banking facilities, restos yang best-best around.. can't wait for the commercial centre in Denai to complete and we will then have our own shops, restos (hopefully) and places to shop.

For now we just have to make do with the small shoplot near Denai ni, tapi belum complete..and the cafe, well let's just say that it is not the best cafe to start off with..and they are taking so loooooong to complete the renovation. Hence, kita kena bersabar sajelah.

Boo hoo...the agony of staying at a new residential area.

These shoes are made for walkin'...

and that's just what they'll do. I think this is the second time that I've written the same title. Oh what the heck..

I know..lame! I saw these at Voir the other day and they had an offer of 20% discount if you buy 2 pairs of shoes. They didn't have the size for the shoes that Sis liked..but I managed to work my magic and Voila! Jumpa  pulak sizenya..so she got hers, and I got mine. It's basically 10% off for each pair..

I still need to break the shoes/wedges takut melecet (blisters) bila jalan banyak-banyak..so far so good. Wore them to walk around Subang Parade the other day..boleh tahan. This time I bought a size 6 instead of my norm size 5. Takut ketats!

If you like them you can get them at Voir at 20% discount (if you buy 2 pairs at the same time).

Introducing the newest member of the family :) I hope you will have a long prosperous life with us..hehe :) Don't bite me ok!

Easy peasy trifle peachy. A dessert in just 10 minutes..or less

Again with the food entry! I can't help it..i just have to do it. This easy recipe for dessert, I got it from watching the Nigella Express show. It's as easy as 1,2,3.

You need:

1. sponge cake..swiss roll pun boleh. I used the tiramisu biscuits (ladyfingers). To soften the biscuits, I spoon some of the peach's syrup onto the biscuits.
2. Whipping cream - about 250ml
3. castor sugar - to taste. This is because some people like it sweet. I made mine less sweet because I know the peaches were already in the sugar syrup.
3. vanilla essence
4. fruits. Fresh fruits like kiwi, strawberries, blueberries..it's all up to you. I just used the canned peaches since I didn't know when I will make the dessert. If beli fresh fruits kalau tak buat nanti busuk pulak.

1. cut a sponge cake (any flavour that you like) into thin slices. Arrange the cake/biscuits on the plate however you like.
2. Whipped the whipping cream. Begin with the slow mode before increasing the speed. Add the castor sugar (to taste) about 3-5 minutes after that. Add a teaspoon of vanilla essence as well. If you want it sweet, you can add more sugar.
3. Once the cream is ready (it sticks to your mixer thingy..)..
4. Spoon the cream onto the plate of cake/biscuits and finish it up by arranging the fruits on top of the cream. You can add walnuts or toasted almonds (or anykind of nuts) if you like.
5.Refrigerate before serving.

What you need..

Whip the cream and add sugar to taste.

Voila. Simplest dessert ever. Glad I watched that Nigella programme :)

Ready to eat!
